“The French Revolution” (for Conservatives and Liberals): Join Atlas Society Senior Scholar, Stephen Hicks, Ph.D. Wednesday, November 6 @ 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET for a Spaces discussion on X outlining the main phases of the French Revolution and highlighting its relevance to our philosophical and political arguments today. Those interested can listen HERE.

"The French Revolution is indeed a watershed event in modern history—some claim it is the most significant event. It heralded high ideals in its Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen, and yet fell into civil war and a Reign of Terror that opened the door to Napoleon. The FR is still prominent in our culture wars. Many conservatives will cite it as showing that liberalism is bad, the Enlightenment was a mistake, that atheism leads to immorality, that rejecting tradition causes anarchy, and perhaps that even the entire modern era is a mistake. Many on the Left look back fondly on its guillotine-busy times and rally under the 'Jacobin' banner".
